Vegan Straight Edge 90's Style Metalcore from California.

Besides being damn awsome, you can also find a strong political stance in their lyrics

(and of course subjects like Animal Liberation and Sobriety as well!)

So, yeah... it actually isn't that long since they disbanded... end of 2010 I guess (?)

But somehow it seemed like they've already been forgotten...

or most people didnt even had the chance to get to know them.

Liar

The definition of (Vegan, Straight Edge) H8000 Metal!

I was shocked when I realized that their stuff isnt available on the internet/on other blogspots.

I mean this is so damn important and far beyond awesome - seriously fuck you if you think differently!

Their first LP is thrashy (Slayer influenced) deathmetal that already has that cool H8000 style,

which Congress (with whom they shared some members) played as well (...just with less metal)!

Their Split with Family Of Dog, as well as the 2nd LP just showed their progress and improvement.

Personally I probably do like Invictus the most - although that Falls Of Torment definitely has

the better Artwork... I mean, just look at it, it's pure fucking metal, isnt it?!

Their third LP just picked up some more melodic influences - kind of technical death metal.

And they started to add some (metal style) singing here and there, which didnt sound bad...

In 2002, when their fourth Album was released, they switched the label as well (to Alveran Records)

and began to add some more Metalcore elements (probably due some line-up changes).
Their Split with Sunrise from Poland as well as their last, final release just followed the same pattern,

more and more metalcore elements, but less oldschool style (death/thrash) metal... 

Technically they just got better and better, without question - just listen to some of the solo's

on Murder Manifesto and tell me you dont want to murder someone to it! 

It's like Satan in person has written them! - but on the other hand, 

you kind of miss the oldschool style a little bit... So I guess it just depends on how you feel,

on what you want to listen to at the moment - everything they released is really great!

In 2006, when they disbanded, the members formed Your God Is Dead.

Some of them remain(ed) active in other band's as well, like: Rise And Fall, Hive Destruction, 

Amenra, Oathbreaker, Tyrant's Kall, Trenchfoot, Blood Redemption, ...

V/A - Compilations You Should Know About!

I do always add some compilation only songs, when I post the discography of a band,

and since there are pretty much awesome compilations with exclusive songs out there,

I just thought I could a whole compilation post as well...

So here you go (sorted by release date):

Regress No Way! (7") - Warehouse Records (1992)

I personally got this one for Spirit Of Youth, who recorded for a 7" on 

Crucial Response Records later that year - pretty much youthcrew influenced during that time,

they just became metallic new school hardcore later on! ;-)

However, the Nations On Fire track isnt bad as well and Blindfold, with Hans from Liar,

became great as well, later on - so check it out!

In Our Blood (Cass) - Reform Records (1992)

I personally got this one for the exclusive Soulstice song, but Conviction and Overcast

are great as well, just as Converge, Starkweather and probably some more...

Land Of Greed... World Of Need (12") - Watermark & Trustkill Records (1994)

Benefit Compilations are always a cool thing, and lots of great bands are on it as well, like:

Outspoken, Nations On Fire, Undertow, Groundwork, Sparkmarker, Blindfold, Lifetime, ...

Stones To Mark A Fire (CD) - Militant Records & Vegan Earth Order (1995)

The to my mind best compilation ever - without question! 

Got released on 12" two years later by Uprising Records (with slightly different line-up) as well.

Contains some of the best songs ever of bands like:

Sevin, Statement, Birthright, Unborn, Abnegation, Earth Crisis, Culture, ...

Warriors Rising (7") - Alone Records (1996)

Got this one for Birthrite, as I needed it for my collection,

but stedding and contempt aren't bad as well!

Anti-Matter (12") - Another Planet Records (1996)

Obviously for Outspoken... the, at least to my mind, best Outspoken song ever written!

But lots of other great bands are on it as well, like:

108, Snapcase, Undertow, Strife, Lifetime, ...

The California Takeover (12") - Victory Records (1996)

More kind of a threeway live split between Earth Crisis, Snapcase and Strife,

but hey, it's pretty cool, isnt it? And it's stated as compilation on Discogs...

enough of a reason for me to put it on here as well! :P

A Means To An End (12") - Armed With Anger Records (1997)

Got this one only for Unborn... everything else on it is not really my cup of tea...

although that Vorhees, Tribute and Bob Titlon arent actually "bad" as well!

Legendary compilation with awesome bands like:

Live compilation of this legendary, now known as Ieper-, festival, with bands like:

Justice For The Enslaved (CD) - Sure Hand Records (1998)

Another one of my favorite compilations, as it contains some of the best songs of bands like:

Clouded, Point Of No Return, Withdrawn, Shorebreak, Dehumanize, Shed, Reprisal, ...

The Seed Of The Next Season (12") - Per Koro & Alveran Records (1999)

Really good metalcore/hardcore compilation with, to that time new bands from germany,

that became really big later on (at least some of them)! Great tracks of bands like:

Jane., Heaven Shall Burn, Linsay, Enfold, Nyari, Deamon's Jaded Passion, Caliban, ...

Hardcore Knockout II (CD) - Genet Records (1999)

Not such a solid line up as on volume one, but still with great bands like:

Walls Of Jericho, Sad Origin, Pray Silent, Shadows Fall, Andromeda, Facedown, ...

As The Sun Sets... (CD) - Indecision Records (1999)

I dont really like everything on that one... but it has some great tracks on it as well, of bands like:

Stickfigurecarousel, Throwdown, Eyelid, Eighteen Visions, ...

Vegan Straight Edge 90's Style Metalcore Band from Germany!

They started in '98 under the name Countless and released a really great Demo Tape

on Our World Records in '99 - changed their name to Absidia and released an even

better CD on Per Koro records in '00 - melodic, yet gloomy Metalcore!

A Split 7" with Maroon, featuring a rerecorded version of an old Countless Song and another

Split Lp with Six Reasons To Kill, followed. In 2003 they called quits and members

went on to bands like The Crimson Divine, Teamkiller and Since The Day...

Ashfall / Contrition (Fall Of Serenity) / Miasmata

Ashfall & Contrition & Miasmata - Split EP (1997)

Just got this awesome Split 7", featuring three great but criminally underrated and unknown bands,

so I tried to hunt down their stuff + some information and give it to you!

Ashfall was a short-lived dutch project - some kind of christian metalcore. 

They havent released anything else as far as I know (tell me if you find a demo tape).

Contrition were from Germany and already released a Self Titled EP
during the time the Split EP came out and also released a full length after that.

They later changed their name to Fall Of Serenity and got some fame...

Miasmata were from the netherlands as well and just formed for contributing these 2 Songs,

nevertheless theyre my favorite band from the Split.

They also recorded for a full length some years later, but unfortunately broke up before it was released.

However, Hectic Records decided to release it anyway in 2011, so here is, 

to my knowledge, everything these three bands released!

VoG was a militant XVX Band from north england, they existed from '95 to '97

As far as I know they only released this (pretty hard to get) Demo Tape.

Later on, when some of them dropped the XVX they started TSUA

(some of them went on to bands like Vorhees, The Horror, Born From Pain and Break It Up as well).

However, the TSUA stuff, which I like musically more, isnt that hard to get,

you can dl their whole discography over at Unchecked Aggression if you rather feel like it.

But Id like to have it a bit sorted, so Ill post them as well!

After TSUA members went on to bands like:

Shortlived German Hardline Metal Band, formerly known as Eternal Resistance,

but as far as I know they never recorded anything under that name... did they?

They even did recordings for a 10" on Alveran Records as well,

but split up before it was released - in fact before the tracks were even mastered,

according to what I have heard... unfortunately they seem to be completely lost nowadays!
